Our Warehouse team plays a vital role in ensuring our customers receive accurate, high-quality deliveries every day, and we are looking for a reliable and proactive Evening Shift Supervisor to join our growing team
The Role
This is a hands-on supervisory role. You will be expected to work alongside the warehouse team while taking responsibility for the smooth running and performance of the evening shift.
You will lead by example, getting involved in picking, replenishment, checking, loading and general warehouse operations while ensuring the team maintains the required standards of accuracy and productivity.
You will work closely with the Warehouse Manager and other supervisors to ensure the evening operation is properly organised, issues are dealt with promptly and the warehouse is left in a controlled position for the next shift.
The standard working hours / shifts for this role are
2:00pm – 10:00pm
5 shifts per week
Sunday to Friday operation
- Every Saturday off
- One additional weekday off each week (rota basis)
- Overtime opportunities available during busy periods
Full training on Food Republic systems, processes, Health & Safety procedures, and BRC requirements will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Warehouse Operative include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and work alongside the warehouse team, maintaining a hands-on approach throughout the shift.
- Take ownership of shift performance, productivity, KPIs and team output.
- Pick, check, replenish and load customer orders when required.
- Ensure orders are completed accurately and ready for scheduled vehicle departures.
- Allocate work and manage priorities across the shift to maintain workflow.
- Monitor team performance and address issues or underperformance promptly and professionally.
- Maintain control of pallet management, warehouse organisation and chiller separation.
- Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, food safety, housekeeping and BRC compliance.
- Communicate clearly with the Warehouse Manager, drivers and other departments.
- Provide accurate handovers covering outstanding work, operational issues, staffing and priorities.
- Support the Warehouse Manager with the day-to-day management of the warehouse and take responsibility for the shift in their absence.
- Carry out any other reasonable warehouse or supervisory duties required.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence
- Previous warehouse experience
- Flexible attitude with the ability to support different warehouse shifts when required
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Physically fit and capable of lifting moderate to heavy goods
- Quick learner with the ability to adapt to changing operational demands
- Good understanding of spoken and written English
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
- IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office
The Person
We are looking for someone who is experienced, practical and confident leading from the front.
You should be comfortable getting stuck into the operation rather than simply directing others and should have the confidence to make decisions, deal with problems and hold team members accountable when required.
Essential
- Previous fast-paced warehouse experience, ideally at Supervisor or Team Leader level.
- Good understanding of picking, replenishment and loading operations.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively.
- Confident dealing with operational and performance issues.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious.
- Physically fit and comfortable working in a hands-on warehouse environment.
- Good spoken and written English.
- IT literate, including basic Microsoft Office skills.
