About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and professional Secure Transport Ambulance Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will support the safe and secure transportation of patients between healthcare facilities, hospitals, care homes, and other designated locations.
Working alongside ambulance drivers and healthcare professionals, you will ensure patients receive respectful, dignified, and person-centred care throughout their journey.
Successful candidates will receive a comprehensive induction and ongoing training programme designed to equip them with the skills and knowledge required to safely support patients and perform their role effectively.
Training
Successful candidates will be expected to complete numerous mandatory trainings. This will be a combination of in-person and online sessions
The first in-person training session,
Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) will take place on
Monday 28th September 2026 – Wednesday 30th September 2026
You must be available to attend ALL 3 days.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the safe transportation of patients requiring secure or specialist conveyance
- Provide reassurance and support to patients during transit
- Assist patients when boarding and leaving vehicles, using appropriate equipment where required
- Maintain patient dignity, confidentiality, and wellbeing at all times
- Complete vehicle and equipment safety checks
- Accurately complete transport documentation and incident reports
- Follow all health and safety, infection control, safeguarding, and security procedures
- Respond appropriately to challenging situations and behaviours in line with company policy
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, care providers, and colleagues
Essential Requirements
- Must hold a full UK Driving Licence with no more than 3 points
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
- Experience in a care, support, healthcare, or customer service environment
- Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding principles
- Good level of physical fitness to assist with patient handling activities
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable Requirements
- First Aid qualification
- Patient handling training
- Experience within patient transport services, ambulance services, mental health services, or secure transport environments
- Knowledge of conflict management and de-escalation techniques
